National Ag Day may be a few months away, but the Agriculture Council of America’s annual essay contest is open right now. National Agri-Marketing Association CEO Jennifer Pickett said the theme of the 2021 essay is, “Food Brings Everyone to the Table.”

“[The theme] reminders consumers that agriculture is essential and is what brings everyone together. Food unites people.”

She noted that’s not only the theme for this year’s essay contest, but National Ag Day as well. Pickett said Ag Day is about recognizing the hard work producers put in to put food on our table.

“It’s a celebration of the entire industry. We’re in our 46th year and it usually takes place in March on or around the first day of spring.”

The essay contest is open for 9th through 12th graders with prizes of up to $1,000 available. And Pickett added while the essay is about telling a story, it’s important opinions are supported with facts and figures.
