The USDA has announced a new program to help eligible producers who suffered from crop quality loss because of natural disasters. That was Undersecretary Bill Northey said the program looks at those who suffered losses from excess moisture, wildfires and more in 2018 and 2019.
“And while we had good models to be able to look at the loss in yields, and we certainly had good partnership with the armay, to be able to look at those losses and yields and more of a challenge to be able to look at the quality losses and how that varies from commodity to commodity.
“How do you cover falling numbers, losses how can you cover broken corn kernels, losses in test weight, losses in other kinds of things there’s a lot of pieces to try and do that,” Northey continued.
