According to NASS, the northwest potato industry reported smaller numbers last year.

Potatoes planted in Idaho totaled 300,000 acres, down 3% from 2019. Harvested area came in at 299,500 acres, down 3% from last year. Production totaled 135 million cwt, up 3% from 2019. Yield is estimated at 450 cwt per acre, up 25 cwt from last year.

In Oregon, potatoes planted totaled 45,000 acres, up 5% from 2019. Harvested area, at 45,000 acres is up 5% from last year. Production totaled 27.0 million cwt, up 7% from a year ago. Yield is estimated at 600 cwt per acre, up 10 cwt from 2019.

Potatoes planted in Washington totaled 155,000 acres down 6% from 2019. Harvested area, at 154,000 acres, down 6% from last year. Production totaled 98.6 million cwt, down 6% from a year ago. Yield is estimated at 640 cwt per acre, unchanged from 2019.

Meanwhile, when it comes to dry beans.

Growers in Idaho planted a total of 68,000 acres, up 45% from 2019. Harvested area, at 66,000 acres, is up 47% from last year. Production totaled 1.59 million cwt, up 49% from a year ago. Yield is estimated at 24.1 cwt per acre, up 0.4 cwt from 2019.

In Washington, dry beans planted totaled 41,000 acres, up 58% from the previous year. Harvested area, at 40,000 acres, was up 54% from a year ago. Production totaled 1.12 million cwt, up 63% from 2019. Yield is estimated at 28.0 cwt per acre, up 1.4 cwt from last year.
