Washington State University and the state Department of Natural Resources will work together on a free weekend workshop focused on forest health, forestry, wildfire risks and more. Professor, Kevin Zobrist said he thinks this is one of the best and most diverse line up they’ve offered.

“We're going to talk about various forest management topics like managing older, thinner like those types of things. Proper tree planting techniques, rules and regulations that people need to know. We got a couple fun ones in there, like how to grow edible mushrooms on logs."

The workshop is open timberland owners of varying experience. Zobrist said with the program being on-line, they’ve found many people miss the hands on interaction. So, in response , they will work in a more interactive element in this weekend event.

"So we're having panel discussions with consulting foresters and others where people can do a Q&A with some experts. We'll also be doing some landowner roundtables."

The Zoom workshop is Saturday February 27th, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pre-registration closes Friday February 26th at 5 p.m. Click Here to register. Click Here for the class agenda.
