The topic of CFAP, the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program, has dropped from the headlines as of recent. USDA's Chief Economist, Seth Meyer, said the programs is currently frozen. Adding the new administration is looking at the program which has already paid out billions of dollars to help the farming community as well as hungry Americans in need during the coronavirus pandemic.

"It is perhaps not surprising when you have a change in administration that they want to stop, take a look at this, understand what this is targeting, where they think that there may be gaps, and then what money is available. So they are indeed intensely discussing what the next step is."

Meyer noted he expects any CFAP decisions to come after Ag Secretary nominee, Tom Vilsack, is confirmed.

"I don't have a date for you in terms of when this will all unfold. My guess is that these are discussions that will happen in earnest should the secretary be confirmed next week."
