While the Senate Finance Committee voted unanimously Wednesday to approve Katherine Tai to become the next U.S. Trade Representative, Ag senator Chuck Grassley says the Biden trade agenda won’t likely become clear for months. The former Senate Finance Chair, said, as he sees it, Katherine Tai, will be confirmed well before President Biden’s trade agenda is clear.

“She'll be approved a long time before we know exactly how the Biden Administration is going to handle the UK, whether they’re going to get in TPP again, what they’re going to do in regard to China.”

And when it comes to Kenya and sub-Saharan Africa.

“I think you’re going to get into the middle of the year before you see any direction. So, I think, we’re just going to have to wait awhile.”

Tai’s nomination now heads to the full Senate for a vote.
