With spring just around the corner, the State and Health Districts across Washington are formulating plans to vaccinate farmworkers. Chelan-Douglas Health District Administrator Luke Davies said there’s an estimated 50,000 people that will need to get vaccinated.

“The state is also trying to figure out how to prioritize groups like fishermen who are coming in on boats and then leaving immediately and other groups that move around quite a bit.”

Davies said at this point, no plan has been finalized, but the State Department of Health is working on it. Davies added farmworkers will likely be able to get the vaccine soon.

“As we get more supply we will be using different mobile clinics and/or cooperation with local providers to make sure that we organize and get them done as quickly as we can. Most likely it will either be during or after we move to Phase 1B-2 or 1B-3.”
