The Ag community is starting to learn more and more about what President Biden's trade focus will look like in the years to come. USDA's Senior Economist Sharon Sydow, said new concepts will take center stage.

"Certainly climate change, sustainability, food systems, new technologies and regulatory approaches."

That she said she expects will be regarding their intersection with trade policy and trade agreements. Also, how trade promotion authority for the President could impact trade deal negotiations such as the United Kingdom and Kenya if it's not re-authorized. Regarding WTO and multi-lateral trade, Sydow notes  while comprehensive Ag trade and reform is needed.

"There's a lot of time past since the last round of negotiations. It'll be interesting to see how the new Director General sort of points the organization how the WTO negotiations, enforcement mechanisms sort or evolve over time."
