USDA is seeking public comments on a food purchase and distribution program that is aimed at providing additional aide to non-profits serving people in need of nutrition assistance. If implemented, the program will replace the Food Box Purchase program created in April in response to needs that emerged at the start of the pandemic. However, Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack recently highlighted one concern.

"How would you work this program in a way you make sure that the vast majority of the resources are not going for the administration of the program but are actually going for the purchasing for the items that go in the boxes and getting as much good nutrition food to people as possible?"

The AMS will hold a listening session on Monday, March 22nd and will be accepting public comments until mid-April.
