Now that we’re well into spring, Marilyn Lohmann says we can expect significant changes in the comings weeks. The National Weather Service meteorologist noted not only will the region see additional daylight each day, but air temperatures will warm as well. Speaking of temperatures, Lohmann said even though air temps have been on the cool side as of recent, the soil temperatures have been warming up very nicely for this time of year.

"Most of the readings are in the 40’s to lower 50’s, there are still a few outliers on the Palouse and more into the northern parts of Washington that are still in the upper 30’s, but we’ll see them gain several degrees each week as we get into the more sunny days and a little bit warmer air temperature as well.”

Lohmann added the hope is the Northwest will see active weather that will bring rain showers in the coming weeks. That could start Wednesday and Thursday as a new system rolls in, bringing in occasional mountain snow showers, and rain tin the lower elevations.
