This April marks the 2nd annual Walla Walla Valley Wine Month. WWVW Communications director, Liz Knapke said April was selected since March is Taste Washington month, and May is Oregon Wine Month, putting them right in the middle of the celebrations.

"Typically, it's also when the valley sees the very first buds break onto the grapevine so it all kind of added up to making sense to make it the perfect month to claim and shine a light on what's going on in the Walla Walla Valley.”

The first time April was observed as Walla Walla Valley Wine Month was 2020. Knapke said celebrations may look different than originally designed, thanks to the pandemic, but they learned how to tailor the celebrations over the course of the last year.

"Wineries are able to celebrate with in person experiences, they're not necessarily grand scale events. Definitely customized and individual styles of experiences so think like library wines or vertical tastings.”
