Outdoor lovers have enjoyed the weather across the Northwest over the past couple of days, while the farm community has not. While clear skies and sunshine is nice for a bike ride, it does not help relieve the dry soil conditions across the region.

But that could change in the coming days.

Marilyn Lohman, meteorologist with the National Weather Service said the calm, dry pattern we’ve seen over the last week will stick around until this weekend. She expects a more active pattern Saturday and Sunday, spilling into early next week.

“We will see a weather system off the coast of Oregon that will probably bring several rounds of rain to the region before moving across and right now, that’s expected to be very much centered on southwest Oregon and track into Idaho as well.  So, hopefully beneficial for the entire region and especially the areas where it’s been so dry in March and April, you know it won’t go a long ways in getting rid of any drought but will maybe help it from progressing.”

Lohmann added with temperatures warming, she would not be surprised if we start seeing isolated thunderstorms dot the Northwest.

What can we expect weather wise as we prepare for the final push of April?
