Last week, USDA head Tom Vilsack made a trio of announcements when it comes to Ag's role in addressing Climate Change.

"We recently announced the expansion of our CRP program, our Conservation Reserve Program. Looking forward to adding 4 million acres to the program. This 4 million acres will allow us to essentially store 3.6 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent, prevent 90 million pounds of nitrogen entering in to our waterways, and ensuring 33 million tons of sediment topsoil are preserved for productive agriculture."

Meanwhile, he also announced a $330 million dollar investment in 85 rural conservation partnership projects.

"In 45 states and over eight critical conservation areas this resource will help to leverage and attract an additional $400 million dollars in to these projects. So the focus on drop relief and head soil health and expansion of wild life habitat," Vilsack noted.

The third announcement concerns conservation innovation grants.
