Brenda Mallory is Chair of the White House's Council on Environmental Quality. She recently called the America the Beautiful proposal recently rolled out by the Administration "historic".

"Never before has a President outlined a vision of this kind and certainly not this early in an administration."

The initiative outlines an locally-led voluntary nationwide goal to conserve 30% of US lands and waters by 2030.

"Let me be candid, nature in America is in trouble. And Americans across the country are seeing and feeling the impact. Climate change is reshaping our lands, and our oceans, and our coasts."

She says there has been a noticeable loss of wildlife habitat as well as reductions in farm and ranch lands.

"We need a collective "all hands on deck" national effort to conserve and restore the lands and water upon which we all depend."

America the Beautiful outlines a ten-year conservation effort.
