On June 2nd, the MyPlate Nutrition Guidance celebrated a big milestone, hitting the ten year mark. MyPlate is an extension of USDA and the Health and Human Service Department's recommended dietary guidelines  for Americans.
Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack said MyPlate was born out of need to improve consumer understanding about diets and nutrition.

"MyPlate, I think, provided a very simple visual notion of what a healthy plate looks like. And I think it's been a very successful effort at advising people about what a healthy plate looks like."

Over the last decade a variety of resources have sprung from MyPlate including a Start Simple with MyPlate app, and MyPlate kitchen page at MyPlate's Website. And Vilsack noted they all focus on helping Americans achieve better nutirion and health goals.
