It’s been a constant theme for several months, but the Northwest continues to dry out.
The latest numbers from the USDA show nearly 7% of Washington is under a D-4 or Exceptional Drought designation; the most severe ranking. Last week, none of Washington as under that designation. On top of that roughly 40% of the state is under a D-3, or Extreme Drought designation.
In Oregon, nearly 12% is under the D-4, a sizeable jump from the 8% reported a week ago. And 55% of the state is under an Extreme Drought.
Meanwhile 9% of Idaho is under an Exceptional Drought designation, with 33% under a D-3 designation.
None of the Northwest is where it should be for this time of year
