The beef industry has had to address, and overcome, some very unique circumstances and challenges over the past two years. How has is the industry doing and getting the beef supply chain back to normal?

"Beef cattle system responded remarkably well. Cattle prices have been on the rise. Consumer demand is strong," said Perdue University Economist Jayson Lusk 

"2020's cattle backlog is nearly cleared. Cattle prices are already improving and should continue to do so through he second half of 2021 and beyond," said Dustin Aherin of Rabo AgriFinance

Both men recently went before a House Ag subcommittee hearing looking at how to prevent supply chain disruptions into the future. One recommendation from Jennifer van de Ligt of the University of Minnesota is improve comprehensive cybersecurity measures as in the food and Ag space.

"All of theses businesses are individually vulnerable to cyberattack. On a broader scale though, the food system is one of the most interconnected systems within the critical infrastructures."
