According to USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey, Spring wheat harvest is "racing ahead" amid very dry conditions.
He noted as of August 8th, more than a third of the crop, 38%, had been harvested. Which is nearly twice the five year average of 21% .

"It is more than double last year's pace when we saw just 14% of the crop harvested on August 8th of 2020.
We've already seen the spring what pass the three quarters mark in Minnesota. 76% was the number on August 8th; 5 year average in that state is just 22%."
