It is one of the challenges in finding solutions to address and improve pollinator health.

"There are quite a few aspects to pollinator health which can make data collection tricky. And to make things even more difficult, is that they are all inter-related."

Such as how climate affects both the forage and pest and pathogens to pollinators, according to USDA Honey Bee and Pollinator Research Coordinator Elizabeth Hill. That is where development by USDA of a pollinator data dashboard comes in to play.

"It's really critical that we not only develop the information and data that are needed to answer these questions, but also for us to be building the infrastructures and making access to this data very easy for our researchers and for the public. Then delving in to answers for what problems we're facing."

The dashboard is currently external to USDA only, yet Hill added, it is being formulated to soon be available to the public.
