Farmers interested in sustainable small scale farming and ranching are encouraged to participate in Washington State University’s 12 week Cultivating Success which starts in late September. WSU’s Kate Ryan, said the course is great for anyone unsure how to approach being a farmer or rancher.

"Trying to impress upon students that it's a whole lot more than just acquiring ground and throwing some seeds out and waiting for them to pop up. It's kind of a class that hopefully opens eyes."

WSU Snohomish County Extension, Snohomish Conservation District, and Snohomish County Farm Bureau are sponsoring the course, which runs Tuesdays from September 21st to December 7th. Ryan, said the 12 week series is great for those new to farming, but look to make a career out of it.

"For the folks that are already farming, if they're in a place where they're saying 'what I'm currently doing is not working', we can hopefully help them adjust product mix or whatever so they can evolve that current farm into something they want to continue with.”

The on-line class costs $200 per farm, or family. Click Here to learn more, or to register.
