According to NASS, the cropland rental rates in all three Northwest states increased year over year.

Cash rent expense for all cropland in Idaho this year came in at an estimated $180 per acre, up $9 per acre from last year. Irrigated cropland is estimated at $236 per acre, up $11  acre from 2020. Non-irrigated cropland rental expense is $63 per acre, up $1 per acre from last year.

In Oregon producers paid $181 per acre for all cropland, up $21.00 per acre from last year.  Irrigated cropland is estimated at $245 per acre, up $25 per acre from 2020. Non-irrigated cropland rental expense is $95.00 per acre, down $5.00 per acre from last year.

While in Washington, cropland rental rates came in at $222 per acre for 2021, up $15 per acre from the previous year. Irrigated cropland is estimated at $395 per acre, up $5 per acre from 2020. Non-irrigated cropland rental expense is $75 per acre, down $5 per acre from last year.

Pasture cash rent expenses were mixed over the past year. Pasture cash rent expense was $13 per acre in Idaho for 2021, up $1 per acre from 2020. In Oregon, pasture cash rent was $11.00 per acre, down $4 per acre from the previous year. Washington producers paid $8 per acre for pasture rent, unchanged from last year.
