The past week has been a busy one for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Investigators were called to a pair of depredations in the Horseshoe Ridge area of Umatilla County. The first involved a four month old, 400 pound calf injured Saturday evening on a large private-land forested pasture. That calf died a few minutes after being discovered by the producer. Then a second three month old, 300 pound calf was found Sunday morning. The calf suffered bite scrapes on both hind legs, which investigators believe happened six days before examination.

Both of these depredations were attributed to the OR30 Wolf Pack.

On Monday, ODFW crews were called to the Lawrence Creek area of Baker County where a producer found a dead 600 pound calf on public land within an over 2,800 acre mixed public/private land pasture. The carcass was partially consumed, but most of the hide was intact. Investigators believe the calf had been attacked over the weekend.

That Baker County depredation was attributed to the Lookout Mountain Pack.
