According to the USDA, updates will be in place next crop year for organic and aquaculture producers who used the Whole Farm Revenue Protection Plan.

"One of those is we're increasing expansion limits for organic producers to be the higher of $500,000 dollars or 35%. that will allow organic entities to go out and get this coverage (as) they expand," noted the RMA's Richard Flournoy. "For aquaculture, expanding the limit up to $8.5 million dollars and this will allow larger operations to get coverage."

Producers he noted, seeking or transitioning to organic production can now receive coverage if organic certification is submitted by the acreage reporting date.

"This was a COVID flexibility we had last year and we decided to go ahead and make this a part of the policy. So I think that will be another positive update."

Flournoy noted additional flexibilities include allowing partial yield reporting for producers lacking records.
