The USDA recently released it's annual look at household food security.

"In 2020 the prevalence of food insecurity was unchanged from 2019. The prevalence was 10.5 % of US households. In 2020, 3.9% of US households had very low food security, and that was not significantly different from 4.1% in 2020," noted USDA economic researcher Alisha Coleman-Jensen. She added there were year-over-year increases.

"The prevalence of household food insecurity, meaning that either adults or children or both were food insecure, increased for all households with children from 13.6% in 2019 to 14.8% in 2020." In addition "In 2020 children along with adults suffered instances of very low food security in .8% of households with children. That's up from .6 % in 2019." Coleman-Jensen added.
