During the recent G20 AG ministerial, a variety of events were scheduled for the coming weeks that could shape the direction of global agriculture. That according to Ag Secretary, Tom Vilsack.

"We have a UN Food System Summit coming up next week. Shortly after that is COP26 which will be in Scotland"

The Secretary said the focus for those events will include climate adaptation and mitigation strategies and the role of agriculture in those efforts.

"We wanted to make sure that the world understood that there was a consensus on the ultimate goal, which is to, in fact, get to a net zero admission agriculture by the end of the year 2050 simply because they market demands it."

Yet, he believes there are multiple ways to attain that goal. U.S. and partners feel a market-oriented incentive-based voluntary approach is an effective path, compared with the EU's Farm-to-Fork subsidy-based system.
