"In the coming days I intend to have frank conversations with my counterpart in China," noted U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai. "That will include discussion over China's performance under the Phase One agreement."

She said this is the start of the Biden administration's strategy of re-aligning trade policies towards China and addressing lingering trade issues, such as China meeting its full agricultural purchase agreements under the Phase One agreement.

"As our economic relationship with China evolves so too must our tactics to defend our interests."

The Ambassador added, other components of the strategic re-alignment include a targets tariff exclusion process, enforcement, use of the full set of trade tools, and development of new ones to protect our nation from harmful foreign policies and practices.

"We will continue work with allies to shape the rules for fair trade in the 21st century."
