Chuck Bundrant, the cofounder of Seattle-based Trident Seafoods died Sunday at his home in Edmonds, WA, at the age of 79. Bundrant arrived in Seattle in 1961 as a 19-year old from Evansville, IN and started working in the fisheries as a way to pay for college. However, in 1972 he co-founded the privately held Trident.

According to the company’s website, Trident is North America’s largest vertically integrated seafood company, though it does not publicly report revenues. Trident has a fleet of more than 40 company-owned vessels, three seafood processing plants in Washington, 11 in Alaska, one in Georgia and one in Minnesota. Trident currently employs roughly 9,000 people during the summer months.
