Torres Small Discusses Plans For RD

One of the primary goals of the USDA's new undersecretary of Rural Development.

"I want all Americans to understand that rural America is critically important to our nation's economy," noted Xochitl Torres Small. She added a continued strategic investment in rural infrastructure will be essential in economic growth in these areas. Investments in both traditional infrastructure and new innovations in areas such as climate-smart renewable energy sources, buildings, and resiliency.

By expanding opportunities for vulnerable populations. The new undersecretary, sworn in to office last week, also acknowledges such opportunities will differ by communities based on their own rural development needs.
