Idaho Auctioneer Wins World Livestock Auctioneer Championship Western Qualifier

Caldwell, ID auctioneer, Eric Drees, took home the title of Auctioneer Champion at the recent 2022 World Livestock Auctioneer Championship Western Region qualifying event. Drees said he's been around auctioneering most of his life with both his mom and dad well versed in the livestock auction industry.

"I just got a taste of the marketing side in the industry at a really young age and it appealed to me. I enjoy the people and the lifestyle.”

Drees said one of the common misconceptions on being auctioneer is that it's just being a talented speedy talker.

"You really don't talk that fast or not a whole lot faster than I'm talking right now. It's just speaking in a little bit faster tone but its more rhythm than it is speed.”

Drees, auctioneer at the Seven Rivers Livestock Commission, now advances to the World Contest in Indiana.
