Washington State University food systems program, Viva Farms and Organic Seed Alliance, will host the first ever Washington Organic Seed Summit. Project manager, Aba Kiser, says organizers hope the three-day event be a network building opportunity for Evergreen State based seed growers of all levels of experience.

"There will be a wide range of presenters from new and beginning seed companies to long term standing seed companies who really aggregate and drive markets in Washington.”

Kiser, added another the goal of the virtual event is for seed growers to learn practical information on making seed, particularly organic seed, a viable enterprise in the state.

"We'll be looking at cultural connections to seed and how the cultural context of these plants and growing these plants is connected to linage with cultural ties. We'll be talking about contracting seed, equipment.”

Registration is free, but must be submitted by December 1st. Once registered, Zoom details will be provided via email.
