Investing in resilient, climate smart infrastructure in rural America.

"We're announcing $633-million being invested into 793 projects impacting all 50 state and Puerto Rico," Agriculture Secretary, Tom Vilsack said late last week as he announced new investments in climate smart Ag. He added the funds will be used in a variety of ways.

"Five key programs focused on resilience, energy efficiency and bio-fuel infrastructure.  $595 million in loans and $38 million in grants."

Vilsack noted the investments apply to both large and small scale projects.

"There's a hydroponic lettuce farm, for example, in Florida that's receiving grief grant of $35,000 to invest in a solar system.  But there's also an $85.7 million loan for a large-scale solar photovoltaic farm in Illinois that will provide wholesale power to the 23 distributive cooperatives in Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri."
