The Washington state Department of Health is recalling raw milk and cream due to possible E. coli contamination. The recall impacts Odessa based-Schoonover Farms. As of Thursday no illnesses have been reported to the company.

The products at the center of the recall are retail raw whole milk and cream with best by dates of December 23rd through January 2nd. The products come in a variety of sizes, including 8 oz., quart, half gallon, and 1-gallon bottles and were sold to consumers in Odessa, and to Rosauers and Yoke’s Fresh Market locations in Spokane, WA.

Retail raw milk is legal to sell and buy in Washington state, but risks to health are serious. If you bought any of these Schoonover Farms raw milk or cream items, do not consume them, even if some has been consumed and no one has become sick.

Bacteria can cluster in microscopic clumps in liquid, so not all parts of the liquid will be contaminated.
