On Wednesday, Washington senator Patty Murray discussed how the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will help the Evergreen state get and stay connected. She said for nearly 200,000 Washingtonians, finding access to quality internet has been nearly impossible.

“Especially for rural communities and people with low incomes.  That’s why I pushed to make sure the bipartisan infrastructure law will make broadband more affordable and accessible across our state, by building our broadband coverage and requiring providers to offer affordable plans.”

Under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, she noted, the state of Washington will receive $100 million to help provide broadband coverage statewide, supports research and evidence-based policy making and much more. Murray added the Law also includes her Digital Equity Act, which provides an additional $2.75 billion in grants to state and local communities to help close the digital divide.

“The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is a game-changer, for so many people in our state.  It’s going to help people get on-line, close the digital divide, and lower internet costs across our state.”
