Renewable energy will once again be a top farm issue this year, as Congress and the Administration grapple with climate and sustainability needs.

“We’re going to also focus on renewable energy; US biofuels play an important role.”

The American Farm Bureau Federation’s Sam Kieffer on key issues AFBF will tackle in 2022, as policymakers continue to seek ways to reduce carbon pollution.

“We’re also going to be looking at sustainability efforts, as Congress and the administration look to focus on greenhouse gases and carbon markets—we want to make sure that farmers have a seat at the table.”

The Senate last year passed the Growing Climate Solutions Act for USDA to help producers use voluntary carbon markets. Meanwhile, the House had a bill of their own they were working on.

The 103rd AFBF annual convention gets started, both in Atlanta, GA, and virtually, Friday.
