Westport Winery Garden Resort has been named the 2022 Washington Winery of the Year by Great Northwest Wine magazine. The winery, located halfway between Westport and Aberdeen on the Washington Coast, is owned by Blain, Kim and Carrie Roberts.

Great Northwest Wine’s editor Eric Degerman said, “Our editorial team identified Westport Winery as our Washington Winery to Watch in 2011, and the quality of the Roberts family wines has continued to climb, exemplified by their six Platinum Awards last fall. That showing gave them 30 career Platinums, vaulting the Aberdeen producer to No. 7 all-time in the 22-year-history of our awards program to identify the best Northwest wines each year.”

Blain and Kim founded the business in 2008. After eight years promoting from sales to general manager, their daughter Carrie joined the ownership team in 2016. Carrie said, “For me the best part of owning the winery is working everyday with my parents.”

“Earning this award is the pinnacle of achievement for our business and our family," Blain said. "We are so proud to be a part of this industry.” From humble beginnings with twelve wines in 2008 to over thirty selections today with 700 medals in international competitions, the winery has been on an upward trajectory from the start. In 2012 they added the Sea Glass Grill, which was named the number two winery restaurant in the nation by USA Today. Ocean’s Daughter Distillery was launched in 2019 and the International Mermaid Museum opened in 2021. Plans to add lodging to the resort are in the works for the end of 2022.

“Considering its relationships with storied sites such as Elephant Mountain Vineyard and Red Willow Vineyard, combined with the talents of winemaker Mark Bosso, we expect Westport Winery to continue amassing gold medals and moving up the Platinum rankings," Degerman said.
