A deadline extension has been granted for applications for the USDA's Meats & Poultry Processing Expansion program.

"[The] program uses $150-million in funding provided by the American Rescue Plan Act and will help provide more and better processing options to producers as soon as possible," said Rural Develop Rural Business Cooperative Service Administrator Karama Neal.

The application deadline will now be May 11th. That is due to applicant challenges with a part of the registration process that must be completed prior to filing applications.

More details about the program itself, the application process and the new deadline are found online at www.rd.usda.gov/mppep.
