According to NASS, potato stocks across the Pacific Northwest slipped to 79.5 million cwt [Million Hundredweight] on April 1st, 2022. Potato stocks in Idaho to start the month totaled 45.0 million cwt.  Disappearance of the Idaho crop to date was 83.9 million cwt. April 1st potato stocks in Oregon totaled nine million cwt. Disappearance to date was 17.4 million cwt. In Washington, potato stocks totaled 25.5 million cwt on April 1st. Disappearance to date totaled 67.8 million cwt.

Nationally, the major potato States held 129 million cwt in storage on April 1st, 2022, up 3% year-over-year. Potatoes in storage accounted for 31% of the States' 2021 production compared with 30% a year earlier. The indicated potato disappearance, at 281 million cwt, was down 5% from the same period last year. Season-to-date shrink and loss, at 19.4 million cwt, was 1% higher than the same time last year.

Processors in Idaho and Malheur County, Oregon used 56.4 million cwt. of potatoes for the season, down 2% from April l, 2021. In Washington and other Oregon counties, 67.9 million cwt of potatoes had been used by processors for the season, up 11% from the previous year.

Processors in the 8 States used 155 million cwt of potatoes for the season, up 6% from April 2021.
