Building a Coalition of Sustainable Production

It was an effort launched last September at the United Nations Food Systems Summit.

"The sustainable productivity growth in food security and resource conservation coalition; the SPG Coalition," Deputy Agriculture Secretary Jewel Bronaugh noted during a recent World Food Price virtual briefing.

"The goal of this coalition is to accelerate sustainable agricultural productivity; growth that benefits farmers, consumers and the planet."

The Agriculture Department recently announced pledges of support for the coalition. Support ranging from nations such as Australia, Brazil and the Philippines, global organizations such as the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, and domestic commodity, research and private sector entities. In total, more than 50 organizations and countries, to date, have announced they are behind the SPG Coalition.
