"It really is an exciting day.  Its been more than two years in the works.  Getting us to this point, we're excited to share some information with you," NASS' Lance Honig said about the release of the first nationwide report on the U.S. hemp industry.

The report a base line and that means there's not much we can do to show trends, or compare production year-to-year, but there are a couple of raw numbers taken from the results of USDA farmer surveys and information from USDA's FSA and others.

For 2021:  Total planted acres for industrial hemp grown in the open; 54.2 thousand acres.  But only 33.5 thousand acres of that were harvested.  The value of that hemp was $712-million.  The value of industrial hemp grown under protection was $112-million.
