Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife investigators says a depredation that took place in the Manning Creek area of Baker County last week was committed by the Lookout Mountain Pack. A three-month old, 150 pound calf was found dead on private-land pasture Thursday morning. The carcass had been heavily scavenged, but crews determined it had died within the past 24 hours. The carcass was investigated and because of wounds and nearby tracks, ODFW determined the calf was killed by wolves.

This is the 6th depredation attributed to the Lookout Mountain Pack since mid-July. Late last month ODFW crews issued a lethal permit, and in early August two pups from the pack were killed by Department crews.
